Into the Dark #2: The Eternity Key by Bree Despain

**I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest review**

4 solid stars!

When Haden Lord chose love and honor over duty – he chose to spare the life of Daphne Raines, who is unlike and Boon, or prize the Champion of the Underworld, has every attempted to claim until now.  She is the Cypher – the only person that can find and retrieve the Key of Hades.  It is supposed to be used by the Underworld to create a literal Hell on earth, allowing the soul sucking Keres behind to terrorize everyone.

So along with his ½ brother Garrick, his best friend Dax, as well as Daphne, her estranged father Joe, her best friend Tobin, and her enemy turned friend Lexie, they will embark on a mission to lock the gates of the Underworld for good.  But what will be the cost…Daphne’s literal heart and soul, Haden’s love for Daphne, or something worse…?  Together, they will attempt the impossible or fail and succumb to the plans of the Underworld and Haden’s father?

Let me start by saying I was SO excited to see this book available as an ARC – I loved the first book, and was not (too) disappointed with this next chapter in Daphne and Haden’s lives.  I thought the twist at the end was just wicked and wonderful, but somewhere in the middle I have to admit I got a little tripped up and confused in some of the middle parts with the explanation of Persephone and Orpheus and their story – I loved getting the history, but some parts were harder to understand than others.  I thought that the drawn out sparks between Daphne and Haden were great…they’d be just on the brink, and be pulled back – over and over again!  There were so many twists and turns just within the last few chapters and the cliffhanger…you’ll want to get through the Underworld yourself, just to get some answers!  Loving it – can’t wait to see what happens next!
